City life often equates with individualism so those having experienced the loneliness are now longing for a village, a community.
I am one of those, but I must admit that I still have vivid memories of how, as a 18y old, I was in a hurry to leave my "village" where, as a young person, the constant vigilance (be it kind-hearted or not) and expectations can feel stifling. Many of us have relished in the freedom and anonymity that cities offer but now long for those tight-knit communities where everyone knows eachother. But it's always a trade-off. Community also means obligations, expectations, a shared ethos, being seen (and observed sometimes :) ). I have friends that still live in a village and complain about these things. I guess it makes all the difference when you decide to willingly submit to this lifestyle. When you are consciously OK with reaping the delicious fruits of togetherness along with those slightly bitter ones you get sometimes.
The experience is not the same when you feel you had no choice.
