I have also grown wary of being glued to phone all day so I try to establish routines. I switch off notifications and check messages at specific moments in the day. And for me, on the contrary, a text message never demands an immediate response. I figure if it is really urgent people can call, so I take my sweet time replying. That is one advantage of asynchronous communication. ☺️

Personally text has helped me keep in touch more frequently with friends and family that live abroad. The thing with phone calls is it needs both parties available at the same time. I have a toddler, and many of my abroad friends now do too, our days are so packed it's really touch finding that moment...
